In 1978, Tauck installed the first computerized reservations and customer service system in the tour industry. The thinking behind that investment was simple: give our team better tools so they could know our guests better, serve them more personally, and take better care of them.
Nearly 50 years later, that idea still guides us.
Today, in our 4th generation of family ownership, Tauck offers journeys in more than 70 countries, on land and water. Our business is far larger and more complex than it was in 1978. And over the years, we have continually invested in the systems, processes, and people needed to support that growth.
Recently, you may have seen emails from us about an important upgrade to our reservation system. The transition caused a brief disruption to our call center, and if that created any inconvenience for you, I’m sorry. While it may have resulted in some longer-than-normal hold times, it was the largest system upgrade in Tauck’s history and a foundational investment in our future, made possible by an extraordinary effort from our team. It’s also just the first of several significant and exciting upgrades to our systems we will implement in the near future.
And it was all done with that same goal in mind: to take even better care of you.
Technology and processes evolve. They have to. But they are never our end-game. At Tauck, their purpose is to give our team best in class tools and support to do what has always mattered most: listen carefully, anticipate needs, solve problems, and create the kind of seamless experience that allows you to enjoy the journey.
A great deal has changed at Tauck since Arthur Tauck Sr. welcomed guests on our first guided tour more than a century ago. What has not changed is how seriously we take our responsibility to earn your trust and to honor it every time you travel with us.
And as we continue building for the future, that responsibility remains at the center of every investment, and every decision, we make.
Thank you, as always, for allowing us to share the world with you. We look forward to hosting you soon.
