Take an Image, but Leave the Rest Untouched: Ethical Nature Photography

Nature photography opens a window to the sometimes overlooked natural world, and offers a reminder that we are all in nature, all the time, together. Nature photography helps us see further, and get closer to the wildlife and wild spaces we are working to protect.

What better way to enjoy the summer months than to head outdoors and immerse yourself in the beauty of the natural world? Generously equipped with a sense of adventure and a hearty day pack, the most important preparation for the adventure is being well versed in the ethics of wildlife photography.

Each season marks a stage in the overall survival for all wildlife. From migration, breeding or hibernation – anything and anywhere between – the delicate balance of life must go uninterrupted. We kindly remind everyone to respect the tranquility of the natural habitats and the wildlife you may encounter.

If you are among the Canadians unable to make it out of the wilderness, you can still be reminded about nature’s benefits by reminiscing and revisiting your own nature photos from summers past and, if you are city, backyard, balcony or front window bound, you can submit your favourites to our online photo contest. Nature is everywhere.
