Disney Cruise Line has postponed the launch of its new ship, the Disney Adventure, from December 2025 to March 2026 citing “unexpected delays in the shipbuilding process.” The company said the move was necessary to ensure the cruise experience meets Disney’s quality standards. The maiden voyage, originally scheduled for 15 December 2025, will now take place on 10 March 2026, impacting about 25 sailings and as many as 160,000 passengers. Guests booked on the original maiden voyage will automatically be transferred to the new March sailing and will receive a 50 per cent refund. Those unable to travel on the revised date can instead claim a full refund and a 50 per cent discount on any future Disney cruise booked by 31 March 2026, for departures through March 2027. Other passengers on cancelled sailings will also be entitled to a full refund and the same discount on a future cruise.
The Disney Adventure is Disney’s first ship designed specifically for the Asian market, with a capacity of 6,700 passengers, and represents a major step in the company’s expansion into the region. Disney Cruise Line has confirmed it is contacting all affected guests and travel agents directly to manage rebooking and refunds. However, compensation will not cover flights or hotels booked separately, with travellers advised to check directly with their providers. The postponement reflects both the challenges of delivering a ship of this scale and Disney’s determination to uphold its reputation for quality at sea.
